​Penny Appeal Canada is a Mississauga-based Muslim charity that provides emergency aid, clean water, and long-term poverty relief globally and locally.

​Guided by its "small change, big difference" ethos, the charity runs dedicated funds (such as Feed Our World, Thirst Relief, and OrphanKind) to deliver clean water, food, orphan care, and emergency aid across regions like Gaza, Syria, Sudan, Pakistan, and Canada.

​In Pakistan, Penny Appeal Canada and some other international NGOs have stopped work due to strict laws, restrictions over advocating human rights issues, foreign funding rules enforced by the Economic Affairs Division (EAD), and mandatory security clearances managed by the Ministry of Interior.

​To ensure social justice, protect human rights, and build a stronger Pakistan, state oversight must be paired with a simple, transparent approval process that safeguards national security while enabling essential community aid to reach those in need efficiently.

​These challenges reflect a broader struggle for human rights and free expression, as highlighted by public figures like Dr. Sabreena Ghaffar Siddiqui, who spoke about losing her academic position due to her human rights advocacy for Palestine. Her story illustrates the personal cost often borne by advocates and civil society figures when standing up for justice.
